Two to three drops on clean, dry skin, morning and night. Press — do not rub — into the face, neck and the back of the hands. Follow with moisturiser, and with SPF 30 or higher every morning. Sunscreen is not optional here: without it, the pathway you are quieting is switched back on daily.

Weeks 1–2: skin looks more hydrated and slightly more reflective. Weeks 3–4: the smallest spots begin to soften at the edges. Weeks 5–8: overall tone evens and stronger marks lose intensity. Deeper melasma responds more slowly and needs the full sixteen weeks.

Suitable for all skin types including sensitive and safe in pregnancy. Non-comedogenic. Contains no hydroquinone, no retinol and no acids strong enough to conflict with the rest of your routine. Patch test on the inner arm if you react easily. Not a treatment for medically diagnosed conditions — speak to your dermatologist first.

Dispatched from the EU within one working day. Europe 1–3 days, UK and Switzerland 2–4, worldwide 3–7. Complimentary above €75, carbon-neutral on every order. Duties for non-EU destinations are calculated at checkout so nothing is charged on arrival. Full terms are on the shipping page.

Clinical evaluation, 2025

Measured.
Not promised.

Eight weeks. 124 participants with facial hyperpigmentation. Photographed under fixed studio light with the same lens at day 0, week 4 and week 8, then graded by an independent dermatologist who never saw the product.

Independent clinical evaluation conducted in Portugal, 2025. Dermatologist grading and subject self-assessment. Individual results vary with skin type, sun exposure and consistency of use.

Week 8 0% showed a visible reduction in the intensity of dark spots
Week 4 0% reported a more even, more uniform skin tone
Tolerance 0% completed the study with no reported irritation

I have had melasma across my cheekbones since my second pregnancy and I have tried everything short of a laser. Week six was the first time I left the house without concealer. It is not gone — it is quieter, and that turns out to be enough.

Marta R. — Barcelona · 41 Verified purchase

What sold me was the ingredient list being on the site before I bought. I checked the arbutin percentage against the papers. It is the real dose. Everything else I own is 0.5% and priced like this.

Jonas K. — Copenhagen · 34 Verified purchase

Texture is the thing nobody talks about. It vanishes. No pilling under sunscreen, no shine, no tightness afterwards. I have sensitive, reactive skin and I have had zero reaction in four months.

Amélie D. — Lyon · 29 Verified purchase

Slower than I hoped for old sun damage on my hands — I saw almost nothing until week five. From there it moved steadily. If you want a two-week miracle this is not it, and I respect that they say so.

Helena V. — Rotterdam · 52 Verified purchase

Bought it for post-acne marks on my jaw. By week seven the two darkest ones had faded enough that I stopped noticing them in photographs, which was the whole point.

Sofia B. — Milan · 26 Verified purchase

The pump is the detail I did not expect to care about. Same dose every time, nothing left stuck in the neck of the bottle, still working exactly as it did on day one.

Nils A. — Stockholm · 38 Verified purchase

I wrote to them before buying and got a straight answer telling me my type of scarring would only respond partially. They talked me down rather than up. I bought it anyway and they were right.

Iria M. — Porto · 45 Verified purchase

Excellent product, small bottle. Thirty millilitres goes quickly if you also treat your neck and hands like I do — I get closer to seven weeks than eight.

Claire T. — Brussels · 33 Verified purchase
Three actives. No filler.

Everything in here
had to earn its place.

Most brightening serums carry a dozen actives at doses too low to do anything except appear on a label. We chose three, dosed them properly, and spent the rest of the formula keeping them stable in an airless bottle.

2% — clinical dose

Alpha-Arbutin

A stable, water-soluble derivative of hydroquinone that competitively inhibits tyrosinase without the harshness or the regulatory baggage. It is the reason this bottle exists, and it is dosed at the level trials use rather than the level marketing needs.

OriginSynthesised under GMP in Switzerland — purity ≥ 99.5%

Dual weight

Hyaluronic Acid

Hydrolysed hyaluronic acid and sodium hyaluronate together — a small fraction that travels into the upper layers and a larger one that holds water at the surface. Hydrated skin scatters light evenly, which is half of what people read as clarity.

OriginBio-fermented, plant derived — Northern Italy

Antioxidant complex

Vitamin E & Bidens Pilosa

Tocopherol and ascorbyl palmitate protect the formula and the skin barrier from the oxidative stress that re-triggers pigmentation. Bidens pilosa extract adds a gentle, plant-derived retinol-like signal without a retinol's sensitivity.

The mechanism

Pigment is made
before it is seen.

A dark spot is the visible end of a chain reaction that began weeks earlier in the basal layer. Most brightening products treat the end of that chain. NORÉA is built to interrupt the beginning of it.

STRATUM CORNEUM EPIDERMIS BASAL LAYER DERMIS TYROSINASE — INHIBITED FIG. 01 — MELANOGENESIS PATHWAY
01

The signal

UV light, inflammation or a hormonal shift tells the melanocyte to start producing. Nothing is visible yet — the spot you will see in six weeks is being written now.

02

The enzyme

Tyrosinase converts tyrosine into the precursors of melanin. This single enzyme is the rate limit of the entire pathway, which makes it the only sensible place to intervene.

03

The interruption

Alpha-arbutin binds to tyrosinase competitively and slows it without destroying the cell. Production falls; it does not stop. Skin keeps the pigment it needs for protection.

04

The turnover

Existing melanin still has to travel up and shed. That takes one full epidermal cycle — roughly twenty-eight days — which is why honest results arrive at week four and settle at week eight.

The ritual

Twice a day.
Ten seconds.

A serum only works if it survives contact with a real morning. There is no waiting between layers, no activation step and no second bottle to buy.

Two drops, pressedThen sunscreenTwo drops again
Step 01 — morning

Two drops, pressed

On clean, dry skin. Press it in with the flats of the fingers rather than rubbing; friction is one of the quiet triggers of pigmentation. It absorbs in about ten seconds and leaves nothing behind.

Step 02 — always

Then sunscreen

SPF 30 or higher, every morning, including in winter and behind glass. Without it you are quieting the pathway at night and switching it back on by lunchtime. This step is not negotiable.

Step 03 — night

Two drops again

After cleansing, before your moisturiser. Nothing needs to wait or dry down in between. Sixty seconds a day, twice a day, for eight weeks — that is the entire commitment.

Why NORÉA exists

Pigmentation is not a flaw. It is the record of everything your skin has already survived. We built one formula to quiet it.

NORÉA campaign portrait at the coast

NORÉA began with a rejected batch. Our founder had spent two years reformulating a brightening serum for a large house, and the version she believed in — slower, gentler, built around a single well-dosed active — was cut for being unmarketable. Too plain. Not enough on the label.

She kept the file. Four years later it became this bottle: alpha-arbutin at the concentration the literature actually supports, held stable by a base that does nothing else but keep it stable, and nothing added for the sake of a longer ingredient list.

We have no second product and no plans for one. Every hour this laboratory has goes into one formula, one batch record, one thing done properly.

— Dr. Elin Marchand, Head of Formulation

The laboratory

Small batches,

Every batch is made to a maximum of four thousand bottles, held for microbiological release, then assessed by a qualified EU safety assessor before a single unit leaves the building. It is slower than contract manufacturing at scale. It is also the only way to know what is in the bottle you receive.

Where it comes from

Four growers.
Four addresses.

The botanical fraction of this formula comes from four named suppliers we have visited. The Atlantic seaweed is hand-cut on a rotation that lets the beds recover; the murumuru is wild-harvested by a cooperative in Pará. Skin needs one full epidermal turnover — around twenty-eight days — before existing pigment can shed. Most people notice hydration and a slight lift in clarity in the first fortnight, the smallest spots softening around week four, and a genuine change in overall tone between weeks six and eight.

Deeper melasma and long-standing sun damage move more slowly and generally need the full sixteen-week protocol.

Yes. There is no retinol, no hydroquinone and no high-strength acid in the formula — the three things usually excluded during pregnancy. Alpha-arbutin is widely considered suitable, which is one of the reasons we chose it over the alternatives.

As with anything applied daily during pregnancy, mention it to your doctor or midwife.

Yes. The pH sits in a comfortable range and there is nothing in it strong enough to conflict. Apply NORÉA first on clean skin, then your other treatment, then moisturiser.

If you are already using a prescription retinoid, alternate nights for the first fortnight and watch how your skin responds.

It helps, and it is honest to say it is not a cure. Melasma is hormonally driven and recurs; what alpha-arbutin does is reduce how much new pigment is produced while the trigger persists. Participants with melasma in our evaluation saw slower but steady improvement across sixteen weeks.

Daily SPF 50 makes a larger difference to melasma than any serum will.

Thirty millilitres, two to three drops twice daily, is a full eight-week course with a little to spare. The airless pump delivers a measured dose and keeps the actives from oxidising, so the last application performs like the first.

Each batch is made to a fixed run of 220 units and released in one go. Two per order keeps the batch spread across the people who want to start the eight weeks now, rather than sitting in a handful of cupboards.

When Batch N°14 is gone, the next fill is roughly eight weeks away.

An opened bottle cannot be returned: EU law excludes sealed cosmetics from the withdrawal right once the hygiene seal is broken, and we do not run a money-back trial on top of that. An unopened bottle can go back within 14 days.

If it arrives damaged or is not what you ordered, that is a different matter and fully covered. The detail is on returns and your legal rights.

Worldwide. Order before 21:00 your local time on a working day and it is dispatched that same day. Europe 1–3 days, UK and Switzerland 2–4 days, rest of the world 3–7 days. Carbon-neutral delivery on every order and free above €75.

Because a second one would take attention away from this one. A laboratory that ships four formulas a year is doing marketing; a laboratory that ships one is doing formulation. When we have something worth the same eight weeks of your attention, we will make it. Not before.
